Description

The glass designer and decorative artist Göran Hongell was one of the pioneers of the Finnish glass tradition. With his mouth-blown glassware service Aarne, he won the gold medal in 1954 at the Triennale in Milan. This famed creation also set the trend for essential glassware in the 1950s, a trend that remains to this day. Dimensions: 2" x 2" x 2.75" (1.5 oz) The glass used in Iittala glassware is high quality and optically very clear. It resists both chemical and mechanical wear well. Hand wash only (1902-1973) Born in Helsinki, Finland. Artist and glass designer Göran Hongell was one of the pioneers of Finnish glass tradition. Back in the 1930s, he presented a first version of what would become his most famous creation, the hand-blown glass series Aarne. In 1954, he won the gold medal at the Triennale in Milan with Aarne.
